I think the new DNSCrypt will support both white/black and allow/block for some more releases though,
if I understood the release note correctly.
PS
I love chess.
I have one chess computer (part of my past) that has squares and pieces in silver and cupper instead.
And this was in the 1980:s. Conchess Escorter...:

Conchess_Escorter.jpg

Funnily. There is the chess game. Playing some times... So what now... Well, I stop here.

OK, I am waiting with DNSCrypt because of possible updates/issues after new release.

Voxel.

Everything is not non-white or non-black... Well, politically correctness is taking further steps... I don’t buy into it. We would end with lightlists and darklists.
Aegis is using blocklist and whitelist and will continue to do so.

Need some help, I enabled Readycloud, but I cannot register my router it's commin up "Registration failed. Please check your user name and password and try again". I double checked my username and password and everything looks alright.

same issue like you.

i have fixed like that.

(a) stop OpenVPN client from telnet (/etc/init.d/openvpn-client stop). It is better to do to avoid re-installation of ReadyCLOUD from your OpenVPN traffic (slower or maybe problematic some time).
(b) kill all ReadyCLOUD programs running (killall cloud; killall xagent; killall run_server.sh; killall nas_service). To say true it is difficult to enlist all processes here. Depends on your concrete problem with ReadyCLOUD.
(c) uninstall ReadyCLOUD (/sbin/cloud uninstall)
(d) try to install it again with stopped OpenVPN client (/sbin/cloud update)
(e) reboot your router (reboot)

Thanks it worked partial, I managed to register but when I login in to my ready cloud account it's showing that my router is offline.
2nd I tried also with mobile app but the same result and it's doesn't connect at all over wifi just with mobile data. Possible because I'm using adguard home with cloudflare dns.

Changes in kamoj-addon beta version 5.4b16
--------------------------------------------------
- DNS Privacy/Ad-Blocking: Adguard Home: Added "Use BETA version" (@R. Gerrits)
- Settings: Network Options:
Added: rmem_default and wmem_default (Very usable for R7800 OpenVPN tuning!)
Fixed: Values now survive new firmware / add-on installation.
- OpenVPN Client: Added: Use custom buffer sizes. (@R. Gerrits)
Very usable for R7800 that can improve speed much.
For R9000 not easy to say. A beta tester says best results with low or high values
to be used for buffer sizes - not "middle" values.
- BASIC Home page: Fixed bug causing flood of errors when WiFi is off.
(Was correct in R9000. Another proof of that Netgear don't maintain the code base)
- Kamoj Menu: Settings:
Enabled button: Remove ReadyCLOUD
- Menu changes:
Made disabled instead of not visible when not activated: Bandwidth Usage, Adguard Home
Moved to Kamoj Menu + disabled and visible when not activated: Aegis, Transmission
Added to Kamoj Menu: Netdata
Aegis, Netdata: Manually refresh page for links to mirror correct active/inactive
- All kamoj log-files moved from /var/logs to /var/log
- Minor script changes regarding file existence.
- Minor general code clean-up.
- OpenVPN Client: Fixed bug that could cause null character in .ovpn file
after editing and Save/Create in add-on.
- OpenVPN Client: Removed null character in existing .ovpn files
- Kamoj Menu: Settings:
Enabled buttons according to router model only:
R9000: Set antenna LEDs off
R7800: Set Amber color power LED when WAN connection is down
- Hidden Menu:
Enabled links according to router model only:
QoS Debug
QoS nodes
QoS flows
Fan Control Temperature
11ad Settings
Hidden CPU
- Fixed R9000 instability and ssh/telnet disconnects due to Netgear's
bad handling of the fact the R9000 doesn't have any red/amber WAN LED.:
/lib/network/ppp.sh
/etc/init.d/net-wan
/etc/init.d/wg-client
/etc/init.d/openvpn-client
/etc/openvpn/openvpn-client-down.sh
/usr/bin/addon_info_update.sh
- speedtest.sh: Updated with info about Router model and used OpenVPN buffer sizes.
- FAQ.txt updated

@kamoj, thank you for the latest version that users with applicable routers can test with.

I have noticed though that you've been slacking so far this year. Next time try to double space your changes list so that it at least looks like you did more. :D

Thank you for all your hard work here! :)

Have now downloaded. Took a couple of attempts and was slow to get the link. Probably a problem with my internet access today

@kamoj, thank you for the latest version, downloaded, isntalled, running flawless!:D

Hi Kamoj

I just installed 5.4b16. Thank you. And the version is confirmed by Router Information | System Version Information.

However, in the upper right corner of the Kamoj screen, the version displayed (in red) is V5.4b15

???

UPDATE: Now fixed, though not by me, as I haven't made any changes.

Can I use Add-on version 5.4b15/16 with older FW versions than R7800-V1.0.2.81.1SF?

I use two R7800 in AP mode and have had multiple unplanned reboots on both devices. Unfortunately, the logs do not contain any helpful information about the cause (Or rather, I can't find them). However, Voxel has changed something on the AP mode and I would like to go back two releases in the hope that the version runs more stable on my system.

I have no other clues as to the possible culprit.
Will save the current log files in case there is interest in them.

Yes, sure you can!
Very interested to hear your results.
Also I "never" run the add-on in AP-mode, so I need user feedback.
You have not set the add-on to reboot at loss of internet?
I guess you used the add-on function to save logs to USB?

So also you better try without add-on at all!

Thank you Kamoj! ... (and Voxel!)

Quicky Summary (if you want to avoid the long diatribe below): V5.4b16 is as good or better than V5 - NO ISSUES.

Another outstanding job. Installed Kamoj Add-on V5.4b16 after updating to Voxel 1.0.2.81.1SF on my Netgear R7800. The router has never run so well.
Noticeable performance improvements across the board from the current V5 release version plus all the new goodies.

I was not having any performance issues - and I was very happy with the V5 version. I have tried a couple of the V5.4 beta versions since August and ended up going back to V5 version after wrestling with various problems. Each time others has already experienced the same issues and like magic Kamoj conjured up new versions or fixes/work arounds.

I did a half-butt install - don't care about backup as there is nothing in a router I setup that I can't setup again. I have detailed notes on anything I set or change so I can nav-walk the entire router UI manually updating all my settings in a matter of minutes.

So... I just uninstalled old addon (per Kamoj instructions) - killed all the settings from the addon (per Kamoj instructions) - manually deleted all the PIA profiles (because they are hard to delete after reinstall) - reboot
Update to Voxel 1.0.2.81.1SF from 1.0.2.81 - reboot
Enable telnet and run T_FTP_D hosting latest addon ipk from WiFi Laptop - transferred ipk to router (from Kamoj * not recommended^ instructions) - Installed (from Kamoj instructions) - reboot.

First Boot - No issues
After quickly putting back old settings - still no issues
(settings include DNSCrypt 2, a couple block lists, PIA VPN, several VPN bypass hosts)

I run the Netgear R7800 behind WAN from AT&T router (Arris NVG589) in passthru. I have a domain with cert hosted off Synology DSM with several other servers including Home Assistant (~20 devices), Plex and others all working outside network. On local network 75-100 connected devices with about 25 concurrently active including multiple concurrent video streaming (Roku Ultra, NVidia Shield TV, Chromecast Google TV) at same time (HD not 4K). No hiccups, studder, or noticeable performance issues before or after update. This includes sometimes with PIA VPN connected and 10-15 bypass clients. Only issue with PIA connected is YouTube TV thinking I am in wrong location :) - which bypass solves flawlessly. Spoofing location on NVidia Shield TV also does the trick if I don't want to bypass VPN.

That said - IMMEDIATELY on first reboot I did noticed the following:

All temps 3-5 degrees lower
CPU use ~10% or more lower
All mem usage stats lower ~2-5% across the board

Speed test - no change (I was already getting full 50/10 Mbps from duplex AT&T U-Verse before update)
HOWEVER... average latency dropped about 25% across several different speed tests using several different local clients (Windows, Linux, Android device, iOS device).

And the router UI is noticeably faster - without any proper post update browser steps (no clear cache - used same browser with 25 tabs left open). I let WiFi connect computer just reconnect after reboot and kept using existing open windows.

I fully expected issues half-assing the install and surprisingly there were NO ISSUES in spite of my lazy hacky quick install. I only planned to check out what current beta was like and go back to V5 - NOPE - keeping V5.4b16 for now as new baseline - and will keep checking subsequent versions and forum for status.

* * Disclaimer * * It has only been 24-36 hours - if anything changes I will go back to V5 and provide input but right now the latest beta (16) seems rock solid on par with V5 if not better.

Time to go dig into AdGuard. Only using DNSCrypt 2 until now but intrigued by AdGuard - and to try new settings for NAT lookup (hairpinning) and SSH so I can finally use WinSCP with checkbox settings on router for SSH.

SHAKE AND BAKE!
Kamoj - once again - you are the Ricky Bobby of SNB.
You will never know how appreciated your efforts are and how many people you have helped (though a quick look in the forums does give a little insight).

Everyone else - save the comments about Talladega Nights. It is the greatest movie ever made and a Ricky Bobby comparison is the highest level anyone can hope to obtain - if you don't agree you are just wrong and I can't help you :)

:)Wow, I feel like I'm dreaming.
Thank you so much for your report, sir!

You write this in a moment where my life is not on top, and this makes me feel so much better!
Can not thank you enough. Good timing!
Please let me know if there is something I can do especially for you! Some function you miss etc?!

Regarding AdGuard home I heard that the latest beta could be better to use.

PS
I need to watch that movie soon!

Hello,

I installed 5.4b16 on my R9000. Install went well and I rebooted. All settings and values carried over. However I noticed that running curl ifconfig.me showed my isp address instead of a router OpenVPN address. I stopped the VPN and restarted it but that did not fix the problem. Another reboot of the router took care of it. First time I've noticed this. Not sure if its an issue or if it was because of something else.

Kamoj, I think I have the VPN logs if you think its something to look at I can send them. In all other regards everything seems to be running great.

Best wishes,
BL
