Laptop dropping 2.4 GHz signal

I recently replaced a Netgear N900 router with an Asus AC68U. My home network consists of my desktop, laptop, iPhone, and occasionally other devices. I notice that the laptop, though, drops the 2.4 GHz signal every so often. There are no competing networks in the area. I've connected it with the 5 GHz signal, and all is fine. Windows reports that all the laptop drivers are up to date. Still, did I miss an Asus setting with the 2.4 GHz band? Thanks.

Did you reuse the same SSID from the Netgear for the 2.4GHz? If so you could try deleting the saved profile from the laptop and re-enter again might fix the issue. Otherwise you could try using a new SSID.

No, the router created its own new SSIDs. But I did remove the old SSIDs, one for each band. I have the laptop running on the 2.4 GHz band now, so we'll see if it drops the signal.

How much does it take to crowd the 2.4 GHz band? I also have a video doorbell on that band--that's all, though. Thanks, Zirescu.

Hmmm. It's not exactly dropping the signal. It's just very slow to connect. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Explains much there - Win10 has been a particularly troubled child with wireless drivers for some reason...

Not true for many, many users. Particular driver versions, maybe. But a blanket statement like that is very wrong.

You both might be right. The problem started when I switched from a Netgear N900 to my current Asus AC68U.

Most of the Win10 wireless issues are not with drivers (with a couple of notable exceptions) - it's more with user account management and profiles - and this was a big change from previous windows versions. I have been able to fix my win10 clients, but it wasn't really a fix, as each one was a bit different, so it hard to say do this, and then this...

I had to change my wifi card in laptop as Intel Centrino 1030 not have any drives to Windows 10.
I changed to Intel AC7260 wificard.

What made you choose this card? How can I determine if it's compatible with my Dell XPS 15 (L502X) laptop?
There is NOT compatible with: HP and IBM/Lenovo laptop
I know it's working, many post on forum and it's cheap.
