Log Levels

Anyone have a good definition of the different log levels in 380.65? I don't understand the relationship between (Under Admin/System):

1) Default message log level (currently "notice")
2) Log only messages more urgent than (was "debug" but I just changed to "info" to see what changes)

My log was showing every DHCP ACK and Request...probably more than I need. How do these two setting inter-relate and what recommendations are recommended?
