Looking for Broadcom VDSL Modem

Hozz

Occasional Visitor
I have an Asus RT-AC86U router and an Asus RT-AC68U router working in a mesh network.
The RT-AC86U is fed by a Draytek Vigor 130 modem working in bridge mode.
The setup is very stable and works well but the Vigor 130 speeds are not as high as if I use the ISP supplied BT Home Hub.
I suspect this is because the Vigor 130 uses a Lantiq chipset and I am connected to a Huawei BT cabinet that uses Broadcom.
I have tried various different firmwares for the Vigor 130 but none resolve the problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good Broadcom modem, it has to be on the approved BT list see
https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.p...approved-list-of-vdsl-modems-and-routers.html

Buy a new/second hand Huawei HG612 from fleabay. Despite their age, they are still rock solid Broadcom vdsl modems and arguably the best out there.

Thanks, I already have an old HG612 but they are no longer approved by BT and Huawei no longer issue up to date firmware for it.

You can always tweak the SNR value to gain a bit of speed.
If you go too crazy you get speed but an unstable line so try a small tweak first.

Using the command prompt in the GUI type :

Code:
vdsl snr - xx
where "xx" is the desired adjustment.

The figures entered will depend on your starting SNR and target.

My current SNR is 3db so I am probably not going to be able to make much improvement I suspect.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
