Looking for the technical name of RF Pigtail

Hi all,

Referring to the picture below.

Just wondering what is the difference between the
grey pigtail (2.4GHz) and the black pigtail (5GHz)?

Are any differences in the RF properties?

They're just color coded.

Where differences come into play are the connectors. If it's older it's likely mhf1 which is larger and then there's the M2 size which is mhf4.

On the antenna side it comes down to the coils which determines the frequency they're most efficient for.

But there is no mhf1 connectors shown in the picture

If you look directly to the left of the connected cable that the connector the black cable should be attached to. That's your mhf1.

This appears to be a D-Link DIR842. If you look at other pictures of the PCB on the internet you can see that the four antenna wires are soldered directly to PCB pads. Pad P2 is visible in the picture above. The other pads are P1, P9 and P10.

The "sockets" labelled SW1, SW2, SW6 and SW7 appear to be RF test points, rather than connectors for the antennas.

That's interesting.

It looks like there's 5 ports in which they would connect to which solder or MHF1 would be the option. I suspect they did the solder option because they're not completely MFH1 where the connector would snap into place.
