My router loses WAN connectivity approximately once per day. The WAN LED goes red and disconnecting/reconnecting modem cable at the router re-establishes connection (no reboot or power cycle required).

I've tried a few things including:
* replacing the network cable connecting modem and router with a decent CAT-6 cable
* DHCP-Query Frequency to continuous

I've posted overnight logs here and it looks like connectivity was lost after 1:42pm based on failed spdMerlin executions.

Any suggestions really welcomed!

You ISP stopped routing your traffic. Talk to them.

Good luck,

Morris

Thanks Morris.

Two questions:
  • What's the log entry that tells you that ISP stopped traffic?
  • Any thoughts on how to get router to recover gracefully (vs fail to route traffic until intervention)?

The lack of a wan event in the log tells me it's an ISP issue

Others have written scripts that restart the link when a condition is met. For example no traffic on the wan link
