Much slower network speeds on laptop

I have using LAN_Speedtest to run some tests between my various computers.

I had some good results across my i7 desktop to NAS, connected to the same router:

661Mbps Write, 280Mbps Read

But comparatively poor results with my laptop to NAS, connected to same router:

82 Mbps Write, 76Mbps Read

Both my laptop and desktop have modern SSDs, I've updated the drivers on my laptop NIC card, the machine itself is a fairly new i5 Thinkpad T430, any reason why there is such a difference?

This may sound obvious, but is the laptop using the wireless network? I've seen some laptops use the wireless network instead of the wired network if both connections are available.

Thanks for the response, no it isn't.

I have actually resolved the issue, I identified that it was only connecting at 100 MB so I adjusted the NIC settings forcing it to connect at 1000MB and now getting blistering speeds.

Ah, well that would explain it. :)
