Hello ...
Can someone confirm if it is possible to have a stable load balancing dualwan setup (using the WAN and ETH1 ports) on a RT-AC88U running Freshtomato ?
Thanks in advance.

The wiki claims it for FreshTomato on MIPS or ARM architecture (MultiWAN)

From the FreshTomato website features table - LACP is what i think you are looking for. According to the table, CLI only, no GUI for AIO devices with the correct Broadcom MIPS or ARM architecture.

There is also a link there on the opening page to databases that can confirm the specific hardware client device.

What does this have to do with Asus-Merlin?

It is possible. How stable - you are about to find out. The proper forum for your questions:

I would purchase ER605 router instead for this purpose. It does Multi-WAN properly for $60:
