N65R Wireless Not Working

Need help setting up N65R

Hello all,

I have this weird problem with my N65R and I don't know if the router is bad or I did something wrong. Has anyone ever run into this problem?
FW version is 3.0.0.4.372_1363 and my setup is fairly simple.

A) works fine for both pc1 & pc2

modem - > N65r ---<via ethernet> --- pc1; pc2 connects wirelessly

B) not working for both pc1 & pc2

modem - > N65r---<via wireless> ---pc1; pc2 connects wirelessly

Is the router defective on wireless part? but why pc2 works fine with wireless? Pointers please?

EDIT:

The above wireless problem is solved, however I can't seem to get the 5gzh working. All I see is the ssid 2.4ghz show up.

I have both G and N devices but the N devices are not seeing the 5ghz. On the 5ghz setup (Wireless->General) page, I have wireless mode, control channel, extension channel all default to "Auto" and channel bandwidth is "20/40 MHZ". Same setting for the 2.4ghz with "B/G protection" checked. Ideally, I'd like the G devices to connect to 2.4ghz and N devices to 5.ghz.

What do I need to twist to get what I need? Thanks.

Hi,
Is the PC1 wifi card set up properly? What does device manager show?

N signal is not necessarily 5ghz. N is also 2.4 ghz. Unless you have a dual band client they won't see the 5ghz.
Unless I misunderstand your post.

In my wireless card, advanced tab, there is a property "Change Mode" where I can select a value for it and the value options are 2.4G, 2.4G+5G and 5G. I think the card is Asus pce-n13 from the top of my head. So I think the client can take either 2.4g or 5ghz. I played with the 5g mode, and it also works. I don't understand but I don't think the 5ghz is working because only the 2.4ghz ssid shows.

Where are you located? Could be the router or card is set on a channel not supported in your area.
Try changing channels instead of using auto. Also give each band a different name. It will be easier to see them.
