N66U Attached USB Drive Question

I would like to start ripping my DVD collection and be able to view them throughout the house without using the physical discs.

Can I rip them to ISO files, put them on a portable hard drive, attached the hard drive to the 66U and then watch the movies on my networked devices?

FYI...I am new to the ripping DVDs and media-slinging game so go easy. :-)
