N66U + LG TV = reconnects

OlegD

New Around Here
I have a problem with my RT-N66U + LG TV 47LM860V.
The TV connects and reconnects to the router using ethernet connection.

Old LG TV works ok with this router and with the same cable.
Old dlink router works ok with new LG TV with the same cable.

So the problem is with this pair only... And the problem is only with LAN connection, the WiFi works ok.

I have the only one idea - both devices uses 1Gbit connection (at least must use it). Old TV and old router - doesn't, just 100mbit.

Is it possible to limit ethernet port(s) on router to 100mbit connection to check whether the 1Gbit is the root of the problem?

There's currently no simple way to force a router port down to 100 Mbits.

Why not simply swap the network cable with a Cat5e/Cat6 cable? Might be a better test IMHO.

As a workaround, if you think there's a compatibility issue, I'd probably just pick up a cheap refurb 10/100 switch as a go between. Or you could just cascade your old Dlink LAN-to-LAN and use it as a switch (disable DHCP server and disable wireless on Dlink).

this issue already described on asus forum - here, but there is no solution.

Yea, I'm going to test this with the cheap switch, but actually interesting to find the root of the problem.

I have to force a network connection of mine down to 100 Mbits....I run RT-N66U -> gigabit switch (8 ports) -> Older CAT cable which the switch then sets to 100 automatically...

tried with different 5e/6 cables without success. after that I added 10/100 switch to lock connection down to 100mbits. Works like a charm.
