I read somewhere that you can have 2 radios which is onef or 2.5 and 5 ghz but is there a way where can have 1 radio set as 2.4 - g and other 2.4 - N?

No. Dual-band routers have one radio for each band.

what I did is setting the 2.4 radio to mixed G and N whilst setting the 5 GHz radio to N only.

That does not accomplish what the OP wants.

But it makes sense

Two radios in 2.4 with G and N, probably with 40 MHz will block the complete 2.4 range. If set to auto, this will really mess up.
But as always, ymmv.
