Hello everybody, this is my first post here.
Please forgive me in advance as my knowledge of networking and setting up modems and routers is rather limited.
Last week I purchased a RT N66U from Amazon, delivered new and sealed.
I followed the instructions about plugging all the cables in as per the instructions booklet. I inserted the drivers and utilities CD and ran the setup.
Setup then popped up with a black box saying:
"Unable to detect the wired connection. Please check the connection between your computer and the router and try again."

However, after reading some posts in this forum, I ran the Discovery Utility and that tool can clearly see that the N66U is connected.

Pls could somebody advise me what I should be doing next?
EDIT: I forgot to add, my modem is D-Link DSL 2780, given to me free by my ISP, could that be the problem, a shirtty modem? Another member said he tried the connection with a different modem and all was fine:
