NAS Login from 10.0.8.6 but my network not in that IP address range. How possible?

I was reviewing my ASUSTOR AS-6102T connection log this evening when I noticed a quick login and logout (1 second connection time) from IP address 10.0.8.6 which is really odd because 10.x.x.x is a private IP address range, and my home network is not in the that address range. Anyone have any idea where this came from?

Does anyone connect to your network through an OpenVPN connection? This is the default subnet range for OpenVPN. Well, it's 10.8.0.x actually.

Yes, I have recently started using the VPN feature in my RT-AC68U to tunnel into my home network. And it was 10.8.0.6, so I guess that's the source. Thanks. I didn't think that was possible but apparently the VPN connection appears from my network as a private subnet connecting to my 192.168.x.x network?

That's because the router is doing what its name implies: it's routing traffic between two different networks Your router is the default gateway on your LAN, so when the NAS needs to deal with traffic from a different subnet than its own (192.168.x.y), it sends the packet to the router, which knows where to send any traffic destined for the 10.0.8.0/24 subnet.
