NASes that stream ok to PS3 and Xbox 360

I don't have either, so can't check their compatibility with the NASes I test. So can you tell me whether the NAS you use works when using the PS3 and Xbox 360 to play files from the NAS?

Please note if there are any glitches or odd behaviors and the version of firmware is running in your NAS. Thanks!

Buffalo Linkstation Live 1 TB, Firmware 1.21, streams to PS3 perfectly.

Generally, no glitches. The Buffalo has been great and even streams to XBMC on my XBox(classic), WDTV Live, and Aspire Revo 3610.

QNAP TS-509 + Upgrades + PS3 Mediaserver = GOLD

I am using an upgraded QNAP TS-509 Pro NAS (4 GB RAM / Intel E5400 Dual Core CPU @ 2.70 GHz). Recently I've installed the very popular (and free) PS3 Media Server software on it, and WOW! it looks like I have reached the Holy Grail of what a NAS is capable of, because apart from all the stuff that all NASes do, my QNAP TS-509 running PS3MS also

(besides that, it also streams my complete lossless music collection (FLAC) to the PS3, supports playing .ISO DVD images, supports .CUE files, plays Internet Radio streams, shows IMDB movie info, shows Flickr photo streams, etc. etc. it plays almost everything I throw at it!)

The advantage of this setup is clear:
1. I don't need yet another mediabox in my livingroom (saving money and energy). NAS + PS3 is all I need
2. I don't need to convert MKVs anymore (saving hours of my precious time)

By the way, QNAP is working on a PS3MS QPKG package for the other x86 based NASes (I just beat them to it ).

Tip: PS3MS also works with the XBOX360 console.

It works on a stock 360?! for real? I thought the 360 REQUIRED a windows media center for streaming to it unless an application was installed on it (ala Netflix)

Buffalo Linkstation XHL works for PS3

Linkstation XHL works without a glitch for PS3. I use it to stream SD videos, images, and music.

Netgear stora => cat5e => Procurve 1400 => cat5e => PS3
Works fine here Stora is detected by the PS3 at power up.

I have a pretty decent managed & unmanaged network running around the house mix of HP Procurve 1400's and 1810g switches and a WNDR3700 for the wireless connectivity for the laptops.
