Need help setting up a VPN server

Is there any guides to setup vpn to access the router when i'm away from home? Thanks.
Sure, you will probably want to look at Wireguard (WG) as it is pretty quick.
OpenVPN is older, slower but reliable.

Below are ASUS How to's on this to start off with.

Once set up on your router and you have exported the QR code or profile for the client, install the WG (client) App for your iOS or Android or Windows device and import the profile.
Connect; done.

See how you get on, come back and ask questions when you get stuck :-)

I use OpenVPN. When travelling "quick" may not matter. First, there may be ISP upload speed limitation; second, there may be mobile device connection speed limitation. In most case one of the two is present.

OpenVPN Connect App, multiplatform:

I have both WireGuard and OpenVPN servers running when I'm traveling. I've had a few instances where WireGuard (my preferred tunnel) wouldn't connect but OpenVPN would.

Sorta off topic... I've been using the "OpenVPN for Android" app by Arne Schwabe. Thoughts on this app vs the OpenVPN Connect app? The "OpenVPN for Android" mentions open source which I typically gravitate towards when available.

I just use the official OpenVPN Connect app for Android. No issues with it.

It has to be clear all we discuss so far needs public WAN IP address and eventually DDNS service if this IP address is not static. Won't work with common these days CG-NAT ISPs unless IPv6 is supported on all Server, Client and DDNS service. Won't work by default in double NAT configurations as well (ISP equipment with no Bridge Mode option), extra configuration steps are needed. I see in older @Crazy posts they had Tailscale installed at one point and perhaps there was a good reason to do it.

Alternatively, there's also Tailscale... an easy-to-use Wireguard implementation that allows you access to your local network and devices from anywhere. TAILMON can help get it configured on your router.

Yeah, I've tried that TAILMON thing and it's pretty good tbh.
