I am confused. When I read the reviews on the WNDR3700 on SNB, that router sounds like the best thing since sliced bread and, according to the competitive performance charts the router appears to out perform the 825 by a huge margin.

However, when I look at other sites reviews of the router, e.g. CNET here, the 825 fares much better in comparison and actually looks a bit better.

Why such a huge difference in testing outcomes for these 2 routers?

I also see a lot of people complaining about the 5GHZ signal for the WNDR3700 saying it is weak and has a very short range. Is that what folks here are seeing?

I have the 3700 and am having to powercycle it twice in a week due to wireless clients not able to connect on the 2.4 band. I have the 5ghz disabled.

I had the dir-655 and beginning to feel the 3700 isn't the greatest.

Generally speaking, 5GHz has less range due to the higher frequency used.

Though, there are cases where this actually resulted in greater range.

Everything affects wireless test results, physical environment, RF environment and client used.

5 GHz range of all 11n products I've tested is less than 2.4 GHz.
