Network Services Filter - broken?

Alyred

New Around Here
Hi all! I working on some network configuration over the weekend, and disabled one of my PiHole servers to test something. I normally block port 53 TCP/UDP using the network services filter and use DoH from PiHole, and this worked well until recently. My test that I expected to fail succeeded. Checking my Network Services Filter settings on my GT-AXE16000, everything looked the same as before. But DNS sails on through when I've manually configured my workstation's DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 or 9.9.9.9.

Is there a known issue with the filter in the current firmware version? Is there something else that got adjusted off that I need to turn back on first? Where should I check? I dug around for several hours and couldn't find anything obvious turned off or disabled that relate to this. I trsted port 80 and 443 and both were able to get out as well, so far as I can tell.

Thanks!

Remove the source Port Range from both rules. Outbound DNS connections are from a random local port to remote port 53.

Oh, ffs... I'm an idiot and have apparently been working too hard. You're absolutely right, and I don't know when those crept in there. It used to function so I must have had it right at some point.

Thank you.
