New asuscomm, new router and spare old router with old asuscomm

Will I run into problems if I don't deregister the old asuscomm on the old router when the new router with new (another) asuscomm get on air. Both intern wan ip and extern Host ip may be the same.

The reason to do this is because of my health and I must give instructions to another person to switch the routers remote.

I have setup everything, but think one must export new client files onplace but I hope nothing else. I have been told that the asuscomm should pick up the new Host ip automatically.

If something go wrong it should be easy to switch back to the old router, but hope to avoid that. Therefore this question.

The current router’s WAN MAC address and WPS PIN are part of the authentication process with Asus DDNS service. So the new router probably won’t be allowed to claim the same name until deregistered by the old router.

Thanks. Still a little confused. A new router will have different mac address and I think also another WPS PIN than the old router. https://easytechsolver.com/what-is-the-wps-pin-on-my-router/

They will of course use the same Host IP, but not at the same time.

Can there by any problem when NEW router with NEW (another) asuscomm
replace the OLD router OLD asuscomm? My host ip will be the same and my concern is if update from asuscomm can crash when it find a new router and new asuscomm on the same old host ip. (The new router will be given another ip than the old router (192.168.xx.1).

Ok, I overlooked that you would use a new ddns name. I don’t imagine there would be a conflict since Asus can’t create a reverse lookup PTR record for your ISP’s IP address anyway. But I never tried it either.
