Getting rid if the older forums?

Posts are moved to their new final destination now.

This will be easier for people to deal with than if we started adding more sub-forums for the AC56U, then the AC68U, and then... It will also allow people with less popular routers such as the RT-N12 to still feel included, through the common Wireless-N forum.

I like the old forum setup better. I would rather not scroll thru a bunch of posts on wireless equipment that I do not own or care about.

The problem is as we add new router sub-forums, this might end up like the Asus VIP forums, where the most popular forums has all the activity, and forums for less popular models get next to no traffic, so someone asking a question in one of these forums might not get any answer, despite the fact his problem might also apply to other similar models. Take the RT-N56 for instance. A problem posted about AiCloud in that router forum applies just as well to the RT-N66U.

What do you mean by this? All that was done was to regroup router models into the same forums.

Those currently empty sub-forums will be removed when Tim logs back in. I only posted in them to ensure people do not accidentally post there in the mean time.

Makes sense , also a lot easier for you , instead of looking at 3 forums/ wireless standard you just have to look at 1 . the way Asus is releasing products you'll have 20/ wireless standard forums by the end of the year .

The Tag search is pretty handy and should get you the posts you want pretty quickly.

It's more for the users than for me really.

Those worried about forums being overcrowded, with the current average traffic we get here, the forum merge might mean you will have to go through 8 new posts instead of 5 new posts per day in a single forum. Hardly a problem.

If it ever got to the point where there is too many daily posts in a forum, Tim and I will re-evaluate things then. But for now this is not an issue.

To the folks complaining about having to scroll down "a lot of posts", you will have to show me how much scrolling you actually have to do, cause here there isn't enough new posts in a day to even require me to scroll. So I'm sorry, but I don't think this argument is valid.

When a forum becomes too busy as to have 1-2 pages of new posts on a daily basis, then we will re-evaluate. Until then, it makes no sense to have 5 daily posts in one forum, and two other forums that each get less than one new post per day. And as I said, a LOT of posts made for one 802.11n router also apply to the other routers. This makes it much easier for people to actually get answer to their questions, as more people will actually see them.

That way, an RT-N56U owner posting a question about AiCloud will face a much better chance of getting an answer. There is no reason why an RT-N66U owner wouldn't be able to help him.

If you think having one sub-forum per router model works better, go visit the Asus forums sometime. See the amount of people posting unanswered questions on many of the forums. You'll understand my point.

I was just confused because Tapatalk didn't immediately update with the new forum structure. I couldn't understand why the forum was there but it wasn't there

Yeah, Taptalk doesn't seem to be too good at keeping in sync with forum structures. I had the same issue on my N7.
