Newbie question about multiple powerline adapters

This is my first post after many years of only reading! You're an awesome community!

This is a newbie question about powerline ethernet adapters..but I cannot find the answer..

Can I connect multiple powerline adapters into my house and let them communicate like every plug in the wall was an HUB port? So my electrical wiring becomes a LAN.

Do I need a switch or an hub in any case?
