Stupid question about the RT-BE88U

I'll wait till there is a new firmware and hope that my ethernet connection problem is solved.
I don't think it's even a router problem - I have five different devices wired to this router model, including an ancient one, and they all work without any issues. You can try using a USB Ethernet dongle with your Mac - they're cheap and usually work well in my experience (I use one with a MacBook Pro).

You're right, it seems it's the mini's fault. I didn't want to start over with the Sequoia OS, people are saying it's a bug with Tahoe. I try to avoid the Ethernet USB dongles, they take one USB port and this mini doesn't have many. I've tried the WiFi connection and I'm surprised, it's as good as the ethernet connection. So I'll wait til they fix this bug, either Asus or Apple.

The apple bug (different implementation) has been there since the first mini with 10Gbit. They see everyone on 10Gbit. 1Gb was just for compatibility.

Do you mean that the problem that I have with my network is a well known bug with the Mac mini ? I've searched quite a bit and I haven't found anything like my problem.

What i have read over the years is an occasional issue reported with auto negotiation of link rate. Setting the link rate manually seemed to resolve/limit the issue. Sometimes an interposing switch helped. Always seemed to occur when the lan connection was intended to be 2.5 Gbit or 5 Gbit link rate with the Apple NIC. No issues if 1 Gbit or 10.

There have also been a few compatibility issues between some 2.5 Gbit NICs. Whether just driver or chipset issues, i know not.

If it has a built in Ethernet port use that. Is it rated 1 Gb or 10 Gb?

I try to match both sides so if it's 1 GbE on the Mac try a 1 GbE on the router, or if the closest is 2.5 GbE then I'd use that. They are supposed to be backwards compatible, but this can be buggy from personal experience...
