For the AP:

I suggest: don't overspend. I have a $35 ASUS RT-N12D1 setup for AP mode. Works fine. Connects to wifi router via MoCA since I cannot get cat5 run due to building construction. Powerline IP --- 2nd to last resort (last is WDS repeater). Care needed in how you config power line (avoid power strips/surge suppressors, etc)
