I have 3 AC87.. All with same issue. 3 days throughput issue
2 AC68.. Bridge disconnect Issues.
Asus G75VX laptop.. Keyboard Issues.
I also have an Asus AC dongle but cannt comment on it as I have not used it. Trying the bridge 1st
Obviously I was becoming an Asus fan boy. I was even going to switch all my Gaming PC desktop builds to Asus as well.. not so much any more.

So needless to say I have quite a bit of failed Asus devices to draw a very sound conclusion on Asus

So factually... 3 out of 3 failed Asus products.

Not trying to convince you one way or the other. But we do see things very differently. ;)

I'm not seeing the 5ghz slow downs with the latest build of firmware. Things seem pretty stable, and I'm running a mix of 12+ clients.

Do you mean about mastiff message? It's AiCloud related new daemon.

Just so it's clear, by "unlink app and router" you mean you
1) Uninstalled app
2) Cold reboot router
3) Logged in via web api after reboot
4) Still see "mastiff" message in your syslog

Is this correct?

unlink in app its mean in app AsusRouter.

btw. today my 87u crash. Internet work, wifi work, but no telnet no webui.....
Code:
Password:

ASUSWRT RT-AC87U_3.0.0.4 Tue Oct 27 11:25:04 UTC 2015
no prompt....

after reboot (power on/off) mastiff is still present....

Dear VANT,

We will resolve this issue on next release.

Rolled back to Version 3.0.0.4.378.5134. Completely stable 5ghz.
I assume this firmware was not tested on all the different hardware versions of the AC87. I know at least one of mine is HW V1.5

Would it be possible to shut up afpd. My logs are filled with

Code:
Nov 13 19:23:47 afpd[11367]: AFP3.3 Login by admin
Nov 13 19:23:54 cnid_dbd[11372]: Couldn't open extension maping file /usr/etc/extmap.conf
Nov 13 19:23:54 cnid_dbd[11372]: Couldn't load extension -> type/creator mappings file "/usr/etc/extmap.conf"
Nov 13 20:07:16 afpd[11367]: AFP logout by admin
Nov 13 20:07:16 afpd[11367]: AFP statistics: 3181443.52 KB read, 976162.63 KB written

It's from Time Machine.

I've also never had a problem with the 5ghz since buying my 87u a year ago, though I'm
convinced there's hardware issues as well since so many have problems. I have 10+ devices
running, though only a few on the 5ghz band. I stream a lot via the 5ghz - NHL subscription,
Netflix, etc. through a "smart TV, Chromecast 2. Mind you, I don't use the USB functionality
at all, no QoS, no Apple products in my house ...most features are turned off.

I would agree but I own three AC87 and they all do it.

Out of curiosity what setting do you turn on\off?
Channel bandwidth 80Mhz
Control channel 149

These are the only two settings I change\set.

Guest Network, AI Protection, QoS, USB (already have a NAS), AiCloud all OFF
Channel Bandwidth: 80Mhz
Control Channel: 40 (I read its best to have the lowest channel possible, unfortunately, someone near me
took 36, but 40 appears to work fine) A couple of static IPs, port forwarding for the NAS, IPTV all settings
none/disable, WPS disabled, my address pool: 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.254
The rest at default (ie. both ac and universal beamforming OFF (do these even work?))

Devices: laptops, android devices, HDHomerun, IP phone, Synology NAS, couple of cameras, printer,
smart TV, couple of chromecast 2. No apple devices

I believe beamforming finally does work (that is, turning it on does not seem to make the 5ghz band go south, and I'm seeing faster connections)
