Not sure where the problem is, but I have not been able to successfully open a port with my pretty new RT-N66U (Merlin firmware 374.42 currently).

I have followed all instructions for virtual port forwarding. Port range specified, local IP listed for my PC on the LAN, local port is blank, protocol 'both'.

Nevertheless, even with Windows Firewall turned off and antivirus also turned off, open port checks with 'canyouseeme' and 'yougetsignal' are showing the ports I have tried to open are blocked.

With 'canyouseeme' I get the message 'no route to host.'

With 'yougetsignal' it just says 'Port is closed.'

I have configured 3 different ports to open, 80-81, 8080, and 5529.

I am stumped. This seems like a very basic thing to do, any ideas what I might have wrong?

Make sure your modem is bridged and not routing/firewalling in front of your RT-N66U.

Thx for advice, problem turned out to be with my ISP. By default I was behind their firewall.

They made a switch and now it seems to be working, at least for port 80.
