printing problems

i have two printer an hp 5520 and epson wf-7610 both connected wireless to my network and for some reason I keep having problems with BOTH becoming "offline" (even if i restart the printer) when i restart my asus rt-ac87u router they become available again

both 2.5 and 5.2 have the same SSID
mac osX 10.11

any thoughts?

1. Why the same ssid? One should be distinct.
2. As you mention ssid, I guess you are using wifi...a sometimes thing at best. Many household and neighboring sources of interference can cause the disconnects.
3. Why the router doesn't reconnect automatically is over my (minimum wage) pay grade. Do they show up in the router's device list...maybe OSX doesn't see them until the router resets. OSX is over my pay grade as well.
 
Life is to short to mess with WiFi connections to printers.

If you check one or both printers they probably have Ethernet ports. Run a cable from your router to the printer and set the printers up as network printers and be done with it.

Then you can concentrate on another unsolvable problem such as world peace.

Unfortunately, some printers (eg. the HP6600 all-in-one series) have wifi only. I won't do that again.
