Problem:Manually Assigned IP around the DHCP list

I have multiple (but significant less than 128) devices such as Light switches, thermostat, cameras, etc to which I assigned IP based on their MAC address. So far so good until yesterday when I tried to add a new camera. It appears that this camera would not accept the IP I assigned so the router turned around and assigned a totally different address.

My question is: Under what circumstances would this manual assignment fail and why would the router simply assign another address without generating an error??

Did you mistype it? Does it stay on the list? Did you try a complete reboot of your network?

I don't think there is any error to generate - the router does what it's told (and can do).

When the camera was first added to the network (before I added to the list), the router assigned 192.168.1.60 to it. I then picked the MAC address from the dropdown and the other fields are auto-filled. I simply change the currrent IP address, hit "Apply" button on the router page then reboot the camera. The camera SW does indicate an error (subset Does not match) has occurred at boot and after a minute or so comes back online with the original IP it received when I first connected it. If I remove the entry from the IP address list and reboot the camera all is well except of course the IP is has is not the one I want :(

I can setup a static IP address using the camera SW and that works fine however, this means having one device setup one way (using device SW) while other devices setup another way (using Router "Manually assigned....." option)

You may want to check the DHCP server settings and verify that your starting and ending addresses are excluding the IP address you want to set.

This is why I suggested rebooting your whole network - it would have taken care of that problem (or at least it should have, depending on how you powered things up).

IP range = 10.. 254 The IP I am assigning=244

After reboot of (1st) router and (2nd) camera, still get "Subset Does not match" on Camera. Pretty sure this has something to do with the camera and not the router as all my other devices to which I assign IP never create a problem. Just dont understand why the router would still assign an IP after the manual assign failed :(
