PROBLEM: RTAC68U w/ firmware 384.5 (or .6) NAT loopback

On a local PC connected to the same network; If I try and type the NAS's local IP (or its public URL link) in IE/Chrome, i can no longer access the login screen (timeout)

This has nothing to do with either the router or the NAT loopback. That's just straight traffic switching going through the router's network switch. Check your NAS and your computer. If your NAS manufacturer provide a "device discovery" tool (like QNAP Finder), then use it - your NAS might be on a different IP address than before.

I've managed to resolve this problem. Please disregard this post...there was a problem with NAS network that popped up out of the blue. There was nothing wrong with the specified firmware update...

Thanks
