PS3 + QoS

Occasional Visitor
If I have QoS turned on and set to automatic, when I run an Internet connection test on my PS3s the NAT type check takes a long time (eventually returns type 2), then stops the test saying my router may not support IP fragments and some games may not work correctly.

If I turn off QoS, this message goes away and the Internet connection test runs fine.

One PS3 is wired, the other is wireless. Both show the same behavior.

Any ideas for a fix here?

I have the same issue. I gave up. Nobody knows nothing about this ( how to solve it)

I'm not too concerned since I've moved most of my gaming to PC and streaming media still seems to work fine. But I do occasionally game on the PS3. I guess if it affects the game, I can just temporarily turn off QoS. I should also probably mess with using user-defined rules sometime to see if that makes a difference.

I have a wired PS3 and QOS turned on and have never had a problem. I am running on merlin build 270.24

if you go under the user defined QOS rules you can select playstation network from the list of services and add it. Don't really know if this helps or is even necessary but I have it in mine and have not had any problems.
I am running in Automatic mode too but with a few adjustments to bandwith settings

I tried this, but the Internet connection test on the PS3 still returns the same "IP fragments" message. I'm on 3.0.0.4.270.26 (Merlin build).

Just because this message appears, doesn't mean there will necessarily be a problem in games. But still...

Thanks for the suggestion.

Sorry for dredging up an old thread - but someone else asked me about this today (enabling QOS and supporting the ip fragments on the PS3).

Tried adding the playstation network ports as described but no luck. Anyone get any further with investigations? (Router is a ac66u running latest Merlin beta).

That tracker entry is for an unofficial firmware.

Gotcha - is there anything visible in the source you have Rmerlin that points to this being 'configurable' (or hackable) - to pass fragmented UDP

No idea. That tracker entry does not give any info as to what the actual issue is, or how it was resolved.
