I'll try to keep it short...

Post Broadcom/Qualcomm merger battle - both companies have put a lot of focus on 5G tech - this includes 11ax and the 3GPP equivalents... IMHO, Qualcomm had the stronger hand there, and has a very strong hand now with regards to 5G

They're not the only players in the 5g arena - Huawei is a big player, as is Samsung, along with Nokia and Ericsson.

5G will be interesting - you'll see a fair amount of press releases from multiple companies there just saying it kind of works.

You know all that about company fights, "This new standard — called 802.11ax" that gods use, etc, etc is pure marketing, at home if you have an ASUS RT-ACXX or an RT-AX2000, you will not notice any difference, just that thanks to the marketing, you changed your router RT-ACXX final version cheap, to a Prototype RT-AXXX that cost you 500 dollars, with errors and full of marketing.

You'll definitely notice if you want gigabyte speeds over Wi-Fi, impossible to achieve with the older technology.
