I would like to just see reviews done using Tomato/OpenVPN/DD-WRT opensource firmware since it just seems so superior to any stock OEM firmware!;)

I second that. (I use Tomato from time to time.)
I also wonder if Netgear's WGR614L got any review ?

I think openvpn is a different issue, since it needs some processing power.

Sorry...meant OpenWRT...I get confused sometimes!;)

What do you mean about "reviews" Wireless Performance? Stability from connection flooding?

Most people use 3rd party firmware on their routers for the additional features it can provide over the stock firmware - especially QoS, Wireless Bridging/Repeating, VLANs, SSH/VPN servers and PPTP clients, TCP connection timeouts for P2P services, SMB/uPNP servers etc...

As far as performance goes, you generally don't see much performance improvement, except TCP timeout crashing and RF transmit power increases.
