router features chart

Hi,

It's been some time that I'm reading the interesting articles in this site for choosing a right Wireless N router. And as Tim Higgins said, we have to make compromise since none of them is good at everything.
The problem reading these articles is that it isn't easy to compare products with clear features with supported/not supported mode. I did search on Internet and I couldn't find any table with features comparing different products.

For example I found that Apple Airport Extreame is a good wireles performer but lacks features available on other routers. Yet I didn't find exactly what features are lacking. If any indication, it is buried in the article, so one have to write them apart and build his own table. Take for example the State Packet Inspection lacking in the Airport. Yet other routers don't seem to fully implement it; so it is confusing whether Airport is really missing it comparing to others.

For example, if I wanted to do port forwarding, yet to have stable wireless performance, could I choose the Airport?

I suspect that such features-comparing tables don't exist because manufacturers don't want it. I may be wrong but Tim, if you're reading me I'd like to request you to build such a table. Be sure that those articles will still need to be read to know the details that can't be shown in the tables.

Again many thanks for this great job.

P.S. BTW if someone has any pointer to such a table I'd like to know

I agree that such a chart would be wonderful to have. Unfortunately, it is very time-consuming to track down the data and also to keep the charts up to date.

As for your specific question, Stateful Packet Inspection has little to do with a router's suitability. Many / most routers now support SPI, but it really doesn't provide much benefit.
