hey ,
i m configuring a new router and it displays the internal wan ip 192.168.x.x . what do i have to do to show the external one ?
Sounds like your router isn't detecting your WAN connection from your modem. What model is your modem and have you put it in bridge mode etc.
Why do you need to show it in the first place? IF everything works then leave it alone.
if your modems a switch and has no modem only option then no.
What is the name of this option ?

modem mode![]()
So if I read this correctly, the modem is establishing the ppoe connection - so the modem has the external address and it's giving out 192.168.x.x to anything on it's LAN side. So you would need to configure the Asus wan connection type to be the ppoe one (with that same username and password) and then switch the modem to basically be a cable box/media converter.
What other options do you have under that WAN type on your exiting modem?
