New Around Here
I'm hoping someone can help shed some light on the settings for the RP-AC68U, I'm not a network expert but have some basic knowledge.
So I have a DSL-AC68U and wanted to extend my wireless, thought it would go well with an Asus repeater and read about the media express function were you can use the 2.4 or 5Ghz radio to extend the WiFi without taking the normal repeater performance hit.
Of course things didn't turn out so well as Asus do a pretty poor job of explaining all the settings, nevertheless I got it up and running but every now and then the wireless just dies and I have to turn on/off the repeater to get it back up. This happens regardless of when it's in repeater mode or in express way mode (using 2.4Ghz to extend 5Ghz) so I'm thinking maybe the Asus automatic settings are poorly set.
* My main router has DHCP server range up to 192.168.2.250 with gateway of 192.168.2.1
*Router & repeater share same SSID on 5Ghz with media express way mode set to use 2.4Ghz connection.
* I've now set the repeater to a fixed IP (it wasn't before) at 192.168.2.251
However many other settings are still active in the Asus UI, things from my limited reading that should be disabled ?
UPnP, Firewall and a DHCP server are all active, should these be turned off as I would have thought the main router would have handled these with some kind of pass-through with the repeater.
The DHCP server is the one that concerns me most as it has a different IP range up to 192.168.1.254 and clients attached to this do have an IP in this range yet still work with the main router for internet access. Should I leave it be, change the IP range to match that of the main router or should I turn the DHCP server off ?
Any help would be appreciated thank you.
