RT-86U optimal Wifi settings for 2.4 and 5 please

I just got gigabit fibre, with previously on 300/300 and speeds matched that on mu ipad and android hwoever now its only upto 550/550, whereas PC Lan is around 910/750
I recall some setting can be done on the router in regular and professional section
Any guidance

What speeds are you actually connecting at with the devices?

Getting over 800mbps you have to have a fairly new device and be very close to the router on 5Ghz.

Check in the wireless log page the client connection speed.

560/421 is the best with 5GHZ on 20/40/80 and Channel 149 on iPad Air 2
iPhone X is about 330/330 - which I got with my 300/300 service anyway

Anything else I can do, or is 560 on ipad ( eg, ) is the best I can get on a 950/750 ISP service

Not a lot you can do to improve Wi-fi connection speed if you are already on 5Ghz and stood 2 ft from the router.
I’m surprised your iPhone X is not getting better, mine connects at 800Mbps (which is the max as it has 2x2 MIMO radios).
My MacBook Pro connects at 1300Mbps (it has 3x3 MIMO).

Basically each radio in a 5Ghz device can do 433Mbps so depending how many they have (mobile devices usually only have 2, laptops/desktops can have 3 or 4) you get multiples of that number as your max Wi-fi speed. With such a high ISP speed you will struggle to max it out with 1 client, really that speed is designed to ensure multiple clients all get very good service of some 100s of Mbps.
When the AX Wi-fi standard is more commonplace you’ll be able to get much higher speeds, but that will be 2-3 years and all new client and router hardware of course!

Another way to put this...

The radio transmits a band signal according to the WiFi protocol. The protocol supports the link rate speed at which wireless client adapters connect. With multiple antennas, this connection can have multiple streams. For example, a 2 antenna, 2 stream ac connection link rate speed is 2 x 433 = ~866 Mbps. But then the actual throughput or Internet speed test may yield results from 0 to something typically less than 866 Mbps, depending on a whole bunch of intervening real world factors.

And I'm sure this could be stated more accurately than I have put it.
