RT-AC5300 Not Connecting To Smart Devices On 2G

2g Wifi wont connect Smart home devices that require set up on 2g only, Ring Door Bell, Ring Chimes, Orbit b-Hyve and others.
The devices will not connect to my 2g wifi, talked to Asus support twice, they could not fix the problem.
Asus solution to the problem was return it, its not defective but will not work with smart devices.
I have a Asus the RT-AC87R that does work, had both running side by side with Asus support on the phone, but no fix was found they them.

So I'm having the same issue with my RT-AC88U but most of my devices would connect until I updated to the latest Asus firmware release. Now, none of my smart home devices will connect (Haiku fans and fan controllers, garage door, etc). I've noticed, the router seems to be dropping the connection to the devices (just watching the devices listed on the 2.4G network) every 30 seconds or so. I had an unreliable connection to my Savant remote controller which prompted me to upgrade the BIOS release and lots of my 2.4G devices are having issues. Be great to hear if anyone has ideas on this.
