RT-AC56U Media Bridge - drop outs, very slow speed to LAN devices?

blc

New Around Here
I used to have this kind of setup:

Internet (100/100) ---- Calix 844G WiFi router (4x4 MU-MIMO) ---- 5GHz Media Bridge ----- RT-N56U (padavan fw) ----- HTPC

This setup worked perfectly, giving me 100Mbit in/out to/from HTPC. I wanted to upgrade to AC standard so I replaced the N56U with AC56U. Otherwise exactly same setup.

It seems that the performance of the media bridge is terrible regardless of the firmware. I've tried Merlin's (stable/ beta), john fork, HGG but they all give drop outs in downloads and pings. If I ping constantly the HTPC from laptop, it will get maybe 60% of the ping packets through. Laptop connected to Calix.

Speedtest stalls on HTPC and the speed drops to 30Mbit/s. Also RDP connections drop intermittently to HTPC.

However, if I ping router itself (AC56U) I don't get any packetloss.

Edit: If I replace Media Bridge with direct CAT6 cable, I have no problems at all.

Any ideas?

Just replying if anyone else faces this same issue. I switched to Shibby's Tomato and all speed/ping related problems went away. It's crazy how broken the media bridge is on AC56U fw.
