RT-AC66U and RT-N66U Bridge: encryption

New Around Here
Hi everyone,

I'm using the RT-AC66U router as my main router (connected to internet) and the RT-N66U in repeater mode. The main router uses WPA-personal for encryption with its clients. The repeater is connected with the main router on the 2.4 GHz band, also using WPA-personal for encryption with its clients. The repeater has its own SSID's (e.g. the main router uses SSID's 'ASUS' and 'ASUS_5G', the repeater uses 'ASUS-Repeater' and 'ASUS-repeater_5G'). When using this configuration, is the connection between the router and the repeater encrypted?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's encrypted. In order to receive the encrypted signal from your router, you have to enter both the SSID and password for the wireless from the router into the repeater's settings. So in order to receive the signal from the router, the repeater has to have the key, otherwise it can't "repeat" (because it cannot connect to the router, just as with any other client that you want to connect to an encrypted signal).
