RT-AC66U vs RT-AC68U

Hi
I have a AC66U but realized the ac68u is only 20$ more. Then one get USB3 and dual core 800Mhz instead of single core 600Mhz and 68u support Voip. I consider to change to 68u instead.

Now if I go with the Marlin FW is there any feature I would miss out on if I switch to a 68U instaed?

3G/4G features is one thing that some sites states is the same and some does not state as available for 68u.

FTP and media server is yet another one that some sites states is not available in 68u.

Sounds strange that a more recent router 68u that is more expensive should lack any feature that the 66u has.

So is there any drawback going with the ac68u instead?

Nihon, none of those features you mention are lacking on the 68u. If the price difference isn't larger, the 68u is your best bet. Although, I must say, in my experience, the 66u is none the less a great router.

Thanks for your feedback. Yes with some bonus I have it is 15$ difference.

The 68 is a little snappier and think its worth the extra 15$...Not that its a big deal but also the 68 does not sit flat .. its upright.... Something to think about as well..

Its a known fact im fairly sure merlin already has c1 as he has added support for it

Asus submitted changes in 2015 i believe to change the radio from bcm4360 to 43602

C1 is coming forsure and it will have even faster usb 3 because the new bcm radios will offload all wifi processing from the cpu

if i had to choose i would pick the 68u 2 core 1ghz is better then 1 and 66U hit bottleneck with QOS of about 100mbit in speed 68U should have higher roof on that limit, not sure by how much though. but i sure 2 core are better then 1, seeing QOS disable acceleration

As far as I know, the 68U is dual core 800 MHz.

Yes it seems the new updated 1Ghz version is not available yet in Sweden. Question is if it will come with a price increase....if so I will not wait until it is released. If it is the same money though as the current ac68u it makes sense to wait.

1. WDS ?
2. 3G/4G teethering from USB modem or from a connected Android phone?
4. Possibility to switch mode between wireless router mode, AP, Repeater, Media Bridge

If anyone can answer 2 for sure then please let me know. It is not mentioned in any specs I have found.

In ac66u under Usb application -> 3g/4g it says specifically that one can connect with android phone (at least stock fw)
