RT-AC68U Questions - dns, torrents and much more

lucasr

New Around Here
Hello,

I have a couple of questions regarding the Asus RT-AC68U.

1) Does it support adding custom DNS servers for LAN IP addresses? E.g. Every LAN IP would use the ISP's DNS while a single LAN IP uses a custom DNS.

2) Does Download Master support the ability to drop torrent files into some Samba shared directory so that it picks them up to process them? This is much easier than opening up the web interface and uploading the torrent file. I'm using a Mac so I can't download the Windows Download Master tool.

3) Is there an option to enable/disable access to the router settings from the WAN? If so, I want to disable it for security reasons.

4) Is there a way to limit the download/upload speeds of guest networks?

Thanks so much

1) I don't think it's doable with the original firmware, with Merlins it is possible it add custom configuration to dnsmasq (but I'm not sure if dnsmasq can do what you want).

2) I've never used Download Master, I use transmission from Entware and it supports a watch folder, although I rarely use it because most links today are magnet links instead of torrent files. With transmission I mostly use Add to transmission add-on in Firefox and Remote Transmission on my Android phone.

3) Not sure if it's in the WebUI of the original firmware, but it is in Merlins as far as I know.

4) Never used guest network so I have no idea.

1) Can't be done with dnsmasq, but can be done through iptables, using a custom firmware.

3) Yes, and it's already disabled by default.
