RT-AC86U (386.11) VPN no longer working

I upgraded RT-AC86U to 386.11 and the internal VPN would no longer connect. I did a clean upgrade of the firmware.

I am using OPENVPN with a dedicated IP and it has worked fine for years.

Once I downgraded back to 386.9 the VPN connected immediately without issue.

Is this a know problem with 386.11?

Are you talking about the router's VPN client or server?

The OpenVPN version changed between 386.9, 386.10 and 386.11. Some parameters are now obsolete. If this is your problem there will be an error message in the System Log telling you what the problem is.

I am using OpenVpn CLIENT. and the only ovpn message in the log is (it repeats over and over):

May 30 20:11:37 ovpn-client1[2088]: write to TUN/TAP : Invalid argument (fd=-1,code=22)
