Hi, I'm running a RT-AC86U with stock asus firmware 3.0.0.4.386_40451.
The client lists is outdated, is showing me many devices wired and wireless that are actually not connected (they were)
If I reboot the router, it will get the proper list but if I check in a couple of days, the list will be outdated.
This is annoying... elsewhere it seems to be working fine.

1) I wonder if this is s known problem or if Merlin firmware could solve this?
2) I'm using a pihole as DNS server, and I configured it to pass the devices name into the router, so I see their "device name" instead of the MAC, could this be the problem?

similar threads I read, but not actually helping...

Been a known problem for a very long time...

Just a follow-up:
- I installed Merlin 386.1 for a completely different issue (I needed to use PBR...) [my issue on another thread]
and as a "byproduct" the client list seems to be working fine (as expected)

Nope... Some devices are still showing on the client list long after they are disconnected...

See if this works

Hi,

I have a GT-AC2900* where both the router web UI and the Android app are showing incorrect client/devices lists. In my case, I have devices which are shown in DHCP leases, and which I can see the accurate traffic for in Traffic Analyzer > Web History, but they still do not appear in the normal client lists. Annoyingly, it does not list the device hostname (as shown in DHCP Leases) in either the Web History or any location where a Devices dropdown appears (VPN, filtering etc..), it shows only the MAC of the device.

*Firmware: 9.0.0.4.386_41994

Surely, accurately showing the connected clients is the basic of basic administration detail for a router's administration tools.

Thanks

EDIT:
Reboot fixed it, added the missing devices and removed some 'stale' conns

Yeah, reboot works for me too... But for me is not even a workaround...
After reboot for some hours (maybe even 1-2 days) the client list gets accurate information, if I disconnect or connect a device, it will show, but after some days it gets "frozen"...
Same behavior with Asus firmware or merlin
