Its because of the chip shortage many electronic items are effected and not available right now.

Not really, it just has insane demand because its basically the new WRT54G/real AC86U replacement which were top choices for many years and with covid, more people are working from home = need to upgrade home router.

Chip shortages. One new router has already been delayed by four months specifically due to shortages with chips used by that new model.
