RT-AX88U - AiMesh - TUF GAMING AX600 Problem

Hi everyone
I have a big problem with my Mesh network at home, My connection is symmetrical fiber download/upload 1GB/s - 1Gbps. Unfortunately the provider gave his router which he doesn't want to switch to bridge mode so I disabled WiFi in it and used Asus RT-AX88U as my main router (I paired it with the provider's router). Second Router on the Floor TUF GAMING AX600. And now it's like this:

the RT-AX88U router alone after WiFi 5 gives me speeds of about 900-980 mbps. But on the second floor the range is weak so I need a second router so that each floor has a good network

After connecting AX88U via Mesh with TUF GAMING AX600 the network throughout the house is ok, the range is everywhere but suddenly the speed is max 100 mbps.

RT-AX88U runs on merlin version 3004.388.8_4
TUF AX600 has no merlin runs on version 3.0.0.4.388_33427

Could this be the reason for the poor network speed?

QoS is disabled.
What can you advise me to improve this condition?

Ah yes, the classic “I upgraded to a mesh network and now everything is slower” plot twist. You’ve essentially paired a thoroughbred (RT-AX88U on Merlin) with a donkey (TUF AX6000 on stock firmware), expecting them to gallop together across your digital savannah. The 100 Mbps bottleneck screams "backhaul drama"—likely wireless and slow, possibly capped due to compatibility issues or a fallback to a suboptimal band. Either wire that second router with Ethernet for proper AiMesh backhaul, flash Merlin on the TUF (if supported), or accept that you’ve traded blazing speed for blanket mediocrity. What’s more important—speed or signal envy?

Would you consider wiring the second node via Ethernet, or is that off the table?

Funniest post I’ve read for a while; love the metaphors 👍🏼. 🫏.
