If I use the FTP server on the router, I cannot see files in the root of the drive

To be visible to the ftp it has to be in a folder.

I can transfer files to the root of the drive, via FTP, but they don't show to FTP after. They are v much there, as SMB sees them fine

Does the same whether I use WinSCP or command line FTP

Is this a known issue?

Thanks

This is by design.

SMB only shows them when Allow guest login is enabled. Otherwise they're not visible.

I don't know why Asus designed it this way but it's always been like this.

Asus stores user configuration data at the root of the disk. You don't want to expose that to all users.
