Just bought a RT-N65R to replace my Netopia router.

The ASUS router does seem to recognize my DSL line coming in to the router.

This may be a stupid question, but is a modem required between my wall jacke and ASUS router?

you need a seperate modem the asus router has no dsl inside

RT-xxx are routers only.
DSL-xxx is their line of modem/router combo (like the DSL-N55U).
