RT-N66R Firmware Question?

Hi everyone, new to these forums. I just got bought this ASUS RT-N66R from bestbuy and I did the firmware update on it. Well I went to the ASUS support website to download the manual and I seen that there are a few newer firmware updates??? Right now I have firmware version: 3.0.0.4.276 and there are like two other new updates avaible? Should I stay with this firm ware or update to the newest one, what would you guys recommend??

Thank you guys.

I'd personally recommend the latest firmware from RMerlin, 3.0.0.4.374.32 (I think). It has wireless drivers that work with most wireless adapters. You can read about it in the first post in the Asuswrt-Merlin sub forum.

Enjoy!

+1 on going with RMerlin's fw.

Whether you decide on the RMerlin route or not, I would at least upgrade for the security fixes alone.

RMerlin's stuff includes those fixes (as well as a lot of other enhancements) and installing it is no different than installing the Asus fw.

I think I've got to correct myself:

If you just updated to 3.0.0.4.276 via the Asus website you may already have the security fixes. It doesn't mention the fixes in the release notes, but I recall reading that those fixes are in there.

Merlin seems to do a better job with his release notes. Better support as well. :)

Maybe I didn't need to correct myself. Apparently the security fixes are not included (I thought I had read somewhere in these forums that Asus' 3.0.0.4.276 had the fixes). See here:

This part still applies:
