RT-N66U and ADSL/4G routers on the same subnet?

Hi Guys,

I’m not that knowledgeable on networking, I tend to muddle through (trial and error stuff), so please bear with me.

I have an ADSL router at 192.168.1.254, I also have a 4G router at 192.168.1.1. I’ve been running these two connections through the RT-N66U via LAN cables and load balancing the connection, and its been working fine.

Therefore I have the RT-N66U running as a wireless router to give me the load balance function.

The RT-N66U has been at 192.168.2.1, I never really looked into why, the router chose it and seemed to be happy with it.

However I’ve been having double NAT problems with the setup, and in the 4G router particularly it would not let me set the RT-N66U at 192.168.2.1 as a DMZ because it stated its not on the same network.

Therefore I’ve been trying to get the RT-N66U on either the same subnet as the other two routers on 192.168.1. or bring the other two routers on the same subnet as the RT-N66U 192.168.2.

Which ever I try I get IP conflicts though I’m checking that the IP address are not in use on the either subnet.

Should it be possible to get all three routers on the same subnet?

Cheers

Chris

Better to use the ADSL router as a gateway (the feed from the Internet) and set the others as access points. That turns off their DHCP and lets the gateway assign all the addresses on the same subnet.
