[RT-n66u ] - Need help with DNS Addresses

New Around Here
Hi SmallNetBuilder Members,

Newbie here! I just purchased an RT-n66u. I'm using Windows 7 (Home Premium) and recently subscribed to a VPN service.

I've done the initial set-up to my modem via Ethernet cable (LAN). Also updated the firmware to 3.0.0.4.374.720.

I did a DNS Leak Test and I'm leaking like a sieve! Suggestion was to change the static DNS IP Addresses in my router (VPN Company) to Google (8888 & 8844).

Does this actually work?

Where do you change the Primary and Secondary DNS addresses within the router?

All of your expertise would be most welcome.

Cheers, kat

Advanced Settings>WAN>Internet Connection>WAN DNS Settings
Set "Connect to DNS Server automatically" to "No" and you can add your own DNS settings.
Apply the changes and you are settled.
I don't think though that the router accepts IPv6 addresses as DNS, you must use IPv4 addresses.

[EDIT]
The Google Public DNS IPv4 addresses are as follows:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

Hello wouterv,

I should have known that it was buried somewhere. Thank you so much for your super instructions.

Best, kat:)
