Samba share access

Occasional Visitor
I have an ASUS RT-ac66N that I've just upgraded to asuswrt-merlin 3.0.0.4.270. With the previous router, I used samba to store scans from a Kodak All-in-one OfficeHero 6.1 printer. I wanted to put the share on the new router.

I'm using the KODAK Online Printer Management Tool to configure scanning to a Network Folder. When I use the the Test Profile function, I get an error back saying "Test Profile: Failed.Incorrect User ID or Password".

I decided to try using the NET USE command to access the shared folder from a PC:
net use * \\192.168.11.1\mbk /user:192.168.11.1\mbk
Enter the password for '192.168.11.1\mbk' to connect to '192.168.11.1':

I then received an error:
System error 53 has occurred
The network path was not found.

When I enabled "Simpler share naming", I was able to successfully mount the share on the PC. Unfortunately, the print test tool and printer still wouldn't connect.

I've attached a screenshot of my Samba configuration.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Try using just "mbk" as the username.

Try using just "mbk" as the username.

That didn't solve the problem (It did teach me that I don't always need to supply the domain before the username for authentication.)

The situation on the PC is that Net use works fine as long as Simpler share names is enabled and Accounts is off. I've also found that I can map to the Samba folder and see files and folders under it. When I enable Accounts, net use works but only for the folders directly under the samba folder.

The printer (or really its scanner) has refused to work. Currently, I'm getting Test Profile: Failed.Incorrect User ID or Password, Test Profile: Failed.Incorrect folder path or folder name. Make sure the folder path and folder name are correct. I have also seen errors requiring write access to the folder.

During this time, I haven't seen anything in the system log file that appeared to be related to my testing. A few minutes ago, four copies of this message appeared in the log file Mar 3 14:50:12 smbd[794]: [2013/03/03 14:50:12, 0] smbd/sesssetup.c:reply_sesssetup_and_X(1265)
Mar 3 14:50:12 smbd[794]: reply_sesssetup_and_X: Rejecting attempt at SPNEGO session setup when it was not negoitiated.

Would anyone have advice on solving the problem please?

How can I enable samba logging? I tried editing smb.conf and changing the logging level. Unfortunately, when I rebooted the router, it set the level back to 0 and no samba log was provided. After the above mentioned errors were in the system log, I found they were also in the samba log so at least I'm looking at the right file.

Thanks

Mike
